Newton, Deism, and Miracles
We shall explore how the pioneers of modern science of the 17th and 18th centuries were motivated by their belief in God to discover the principles that explain the observations of the natural world, and how the resultant mechanistic view of the universe subsequently led to scepticism and debates concerning the plausibility of miracles and divine revelation in history.
