Pre-modern Chinese culture and Daoism
We shall start our historical survey with ancient Chinese culture, focusing on the holistic thinking and practices of Chinese cosmology and Daoism. China has its own, long tradition of observing nature and the cosmos, in which material and spiritual dimensions are not clearly distinguished. Can this system of knowledge be considered to be science or religion? What insights does it give us on the relationship between science and religion?
